The CANIGÓ

The Pic du Canigou exceptional hike to 2785 altitude meters, symbol of the Catalan Country ( Canigó).

One of the most beautiful hiking of the Eastern Pyrenees via the refuge of Cortalets at 2150 meters.

And it will take between 1 and 2 days of walking depending on your pace and the weather.

And there is different routes to access the Pic du Canigó.

We therefore advise you to plan to make this ascent in two days either at the Cortalets refuge or at the de Mariailles.

The most spectacular route is from the refuge of Mariailles ending with a stone staircase nicknamed the Chimney.

So count around 4 hours of walking only to go there for an elevation gain of 1300 meters and allow as much for the return.

And it is also possible to climb from the villages at the foot of the canigou by electric mountain bike.

Be careful not to do like some visitors to make the climb in thongs and shorts.

It remains an accessible mountain climb but equip yourself with good walking shoes, warm pants and clothes.
